Depression

Feeling stuck or not knowing how to move forward can create hopelessness, helplessness, and exhaustion.

You might be spending your time thinking about how things should be different. Maybe you have never been able to shake this feeling or other beliefs that you are not who you want to be or are not “good enough,” that people can’t be trusted, or that the world is unsafe. Not having enough energy to get through a day or withdrawing from friends and family is a red flag.

You want to see your medical doctor and/or a therapist to determine the cause. If you have noticed thoughts that you wish you were never born or didn’t want to wake up, it is time to get an immediate appointment with a professional. And if you need immediate help, go to your nearest emergency room or call 988.

  • or anything troubling you deeply?
  • Process your emotions.
  • Learn to think differently about events and situations to develop a positive outlook.
  • Learn how to catch the early signs that your depression is getting worse.
  • Our practice uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and EMDR in this process.

Depression is a condition that affects how you think, feel, and behave. It can also lead to emotional and physical problems, making daily functioning difficult. For example, you may lose interest in your favorite activities, have trouble sleeping, sleep too much, gain or lose weight, think about suicide, and think life isn’t worth living. Depression can start at any time. However, it tends to begin during the late teens through the mid-20s. However, this condition is treatable, and many people can effectively manage their depression using different techniques.
